Robots.txt Generator: Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
A robots.txt file is a text file that tells search engine crawlers which pages or files the crawler can or can't request from your site. This is used mainly to avoid overloading your site with requests.
Choose between allowing all access, disallowing all access, or setting custom rules. For custom rules, you can specify different user agents and their allowed/disallowed paths. You can also add your sitemap URL. Click 'Generate robots.txt' when done.
The robots.txt file should be placed in the root directory of your website (e.g., www.example.com/robots.txt). Most web crawlers will look for the file at this location.
